Twenty-four hours after abandoning the Causeway rehab clinic in Essex, Amy Winehouse checked back in. Although sources said Amy and her equally-troubled husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, spent their time away from rehab drinking at a London pub, Blake claimed they simply checked out of the clinic so they could go home to pick up a guitar. Oh, ok.

She returned to rehab as Fielder-Civil, 25, defended himself for the first time today against claims he was to blame for his wife’s cocaine and heroin addiction.

Fielder-Civil, who also uses heroin, claimed they had only left for London “to get a guitar” before going back. He said: “Everyone thinks that everything that’s happened to Amy is my fault and I’m portrayed as the bad guy.

“But I love her so, so much. She’s so precious to me, she’s my wife and I want to take care of her, that’s why I’m taking her back to rehab.

“We only came back to London to get a guitar and then we’re going straight back.

“It’s not because we were too weak to stay.

“If we were going to send a message to Amy’s fans we would say don’t worry, she’s being looked after.

“The reports about Amy and drugs aren’t true to that magnitude,” he added.

Shortly before heading back to the clinic, Amy stopped at Camden convenience store, where she daringly walked off with a copy of New Music Express without paying for it. Kooky crackheads just love to steal shit, don’t they?

While Lindsay Lohan enjoyed some outdoor activities at her Utah rehab facility, her parents finally reached a divorce settlement. According to Us Weekly, Michael and Dina Lohan’s divorce will be final in 60 days, with child custody to be determined September 6.

Paris Hilton’s clothing line, “Heiress,” made it’s debut her at Kitston yesterday. For reasons I’ll never understand, fans lined up around the Los Angeles block to catch a glimpse of Paris and her tacky sequin minidress, which also came in children’s sizes, in case you’re interested in whoring up your kiddos.

Inside the store, Hilton was all smiles.

“It’s a dream come true to have my own clothing line,” she said. “It’s just Paris style: fun, bright and flashy.”

The collection, which Hilton described as “really comfortable” and “really affordable,” includes shoes, T-shirts and jeans. Hilton said she spent a year submitting and approving designs.

“It’s just from my closet to their closets,” she said. Additional pieces will be released next month, she said.

Britney Spears got some bad news this week: she was dumped by her high-powered divorce attorney, Laura Wasser.

Sources connected to her divorce case tell us, Wasser is about to resign as Spears’ attorney. The disso-queen, who has repped scores of stars including Angelina Jolie and Nick Lachey, sealed the deal on the divorce late last month. Now that the divorce is done, Wasser is done.

We’re told Wasser has put Spears in touch with other lawyers who could help the singer in her ongoing custody battle with Fed-Ex, but Spears has become so reliant on Wasser she doesn’t like any of the alternatives. There’s probably good reason — with Spears flipping out before our eyes, it’s pretty amazing Wasser was able to get a 50/50 custody split in the settlement.

I don’t think I can blame Wasser; can you imagine trying to deal with Britney on a professional level?

Nicole Richie is keeping a tight leash on her baby-daddy, Joel Madden. In an effort to control rumors, Nicole gave Joel strict instructions when he’s out on his own.

Wednesday night, Madden went to celebrate the first anniversary of the Village Pourhouse on Third Avenue, and all was well until a party promoter wanted to take a picture of him with a cute young woman. Our spy reports, “He said he couldn’t, as Nicole gave him strict orders not to take pictures with other celebrities or girls for rumor purposes.”

The couple left for Canada today, but before leaving, they reportedly spent time shopping for a condo in NYC.
