Owen Wilson released a statement today regarding his admittance to a Los Angeles hospital on Sunday. The actor refused to confirm reports he attempted suicide (duh), but instead asked members of the media to give him space during “this difficult time.”

“I respectfully ask that the media allow me to receive care and heal in private during this difficult time.”

Owen’s brother Luke was spotted visiting him at Cedars Sinai Hospital last night, which is why I feel justified in posting this clip from “The Royal Tenenbaums.”

Various tabs reported this weekend that Owen Wilson was rushed to a Los Angeles hospital on Sunday after a suicide attempt at his home. The actor reportedly slit his left wrist and swallowed a number of pills.

The National Enquirer editor-in-chief David Perel said: “Owen Wilson has now been transferred from St. John’s to another Los Angeles area hospital. His brothers Andrew and Luke are with him. His parents were also seen visiting Cedars-Sinai Medical Center on Sunday night.

Perel added: “Andrew found him after the suicide attempt and called an ambulance. Both of Owen’s wrists were slashed superficially and Owen had taken an overdose of pills.

“Owen was found with a nearly empty bottle of pills next to him. He was at his house in Santa Monica.”

TMZ released a statement from Santa Monica Police which reportedly detailed the emergency call.

It read: “On Sunday Aug. 26. 2007 at 12.10pm officers from the Santa Monica Police Department responded to a medical assistance call from the Santa Monica Fire Department at the 900 block of 23rd Street. The person was transported to a local hospital where they are being treated.”
