Drew Barrymore appeared on the cover of the April 2009 issue of W Magazine. Inside the issue, Drew discussed her upcoming “Grey Gardens” remake for HBO, saying her role as Little Edie Beal helped her get in touch with her dark side.

“I was excited to bring my own pain to something. I mean, contrary to my happy-go-luckiness, I have so much darkness in there.”

To prepare for playing Beal, a former society beauty with acting dreams who ended up living in squalor with only her overbearing mother, Barrymore drew on memories. “I got institutionalized as a kid, and I felt like I was back there,” she says. “A lot of times I found myself unhappy and isolated, and the only other time I felt that way was when I was in there.

“I like making people feel good, but it was great not to have to please anybody,” she says. “I was out there for myself and for her.”

The “Grey Gardens” remake will air on HBO next month.

Little Dakota Fanning is all grown up, and ready to feast on some blood. Her rep confirmed the 15 year old actress  will co-star in the upcoming “Twilight” sequel, “New Moon” as Jane, a bad vampire “with an angelic exterior who works for the Volturi.” I haven’t read any of the “Twilight” books, so I have no idea what any of this shit means.

“We did just get a script. We’re shooting the rest of the films back to back,” says Nikki Reed, who plays Rosalie Hale in the film. “(Director) Chris Weitz is amazing and I think it’s going to be wonderful.”

Filming is expected to start later this month in Vancouver, with a November 2009 release date.

The good news: Ashlee Simpson is taking a break from music. The bad news: she’s acting again. Ashlee confirmed she will appear on the CW’s “Melrose Place” spin-off.

Sources claimed Ashlee sought out a regular acting gig so she can spend more time with three month old son Bronx Mowgli.

“I’m thrilled to be joining the cast of Melrose Place,” she said in a statement. “I look forward to being a part of its new generation of residents.”

It was reported earlier that Simpson will play a lead character named Violet, a small-town girl who moves to L.A. with a secret, in the show spinoff.

A source close to Simpson said the actress “wanted something stable so she could be close to her baby.”

“She was specifically looking for something in television as her next step that filmed in Los Angeles so she wouldn’t have to be away from Bronx,” the source says. “Music is still a passion but she felt this was the best thing for her and her family at this point in her life. She’s really excited about Melrose Place.”

The “Melrose Place” gig will be Ashlee’s first acting role in over five years: she had a reoccurring role on “Seventh Heaven” from 2002 to 2004.

Hayden Panettiere pulled a Bjork at an event in Hawaii over the weekend. Homegirl blew up at reporters on the red carpet at a benefit (classy) for the Rehabilitation Hospital of the Pacific Foundation Sunday in Honolulu.

“Back up!” she yelled at photographers.

After posing for photos, she brushed by reporters.

A female television reporter touched her shoulder and asked, “May we talk with you, Hayden?”

Miffed, the actress jerked her head around and screamed, “Don’t you ever touch me!”

She then icily asked a red carpet handler, “Oh, am I supposed to do interviews?”

Approaching various media outlets, she snapped again: “You all make my life miserable” and refused to answer any questions.

This really makes me wish “Heroes” would get canceled so Hayden would have to go back to auditioning for “mean girl/murderer” on “Law & Order” spin-offs.

I know you’ve probably been wondering what Donald Trump thinks of the Rihanna-Chris Brown situation (because, after all, Trump’s opinion means more than anyone else’s), so luckily for you, I have the answer.

Trump thinks Rihanna is a “loser” for letting Chris back in her life after her viciously assaulted her.

Trump says of Rihanna: “She better get the hell out.  If she goes back, she’s a loser, and she doesn’t deserve to have any future success.”

So what’s worst: being assaulted by your significant other, or being called a “loser” by random publicity hound?
