The Daily Mail uncovered a shocking secret about Karolina Kurkova last week: the Victoria’s Secret supermodel doesn’t have a belly button. NYDN dug deeper into the story, because lord knows we need an answer for this mystery ASAP.

“She had an operation when she was an infant,” her rep told the Daily News. “It’s a fact and just thank God she’s healthy.”

So what belly button condition could baby Kurkova have had?

Doctors say it was likely an umbilical hernia.

“It does look like [she may have had] an umbilical hernia as a child that was either fixed or not fixed, which can distort the belly button,” said Dr. Matthew Schulman, a plastic surgeon at Manhattan’s Mount Sinai Medical Center.

The condition is a fairly common in infants, Schulman said. Usually a portion of the intestine has popped through the abdominal muscles, causing an oversized “outie.”

“Most people have them fixed, because you should have any hernias fixed,” Schulman said.

Sources told the Daily Mail that magazines and catalogues regularly Photoshop a belly button for Karolina during post-production work.

Now that I’m thinking about it, it is possible to be true, I’ve seen it only once and yes, it’s called umbilical hernia, but I must confess it is quite disturbing.

I can’t believe there’s this much brouhaha over a belly button.
I still think it means she’s an alien who was hatched from a pod.

Who cares about her bellybutton when she has a tasty looking camel toe
