Mariska Hargitay was notably absent from the Golden Globes on Sunday. When Anna Paquin stole the Best Actress in a Drama Series from her, I was hoping to see Mariska pouting in the crowd, but instead the camera just panned in closer of Anna’s gap-toothed grin.

As it turns out, there was a good reason for Mariska’s absence: she suffered a collapsed lung.

“Mariska Hargitay has been sidelined with a pneumothorax (a partially collapsed lung),” her rep told Access Hollywood.

According to Hargitay’s rep, despite the injury, “she will appear in all episodes for the rest of the season of Law & Order: SVU.”

Mariska’s rep didn’t reveal how she suffered the injury, but I’m guessing it involved over-acting on “SVU.” It’s like, dude, we know: that prison guard tried to stick his wang in your mouth last season. It’s time for Olivia Benson to move on, because I’m bored with that storyline.
