Casey Aldridge, the 19 year old father of Jamie Lynn Spears’ daughter, was involved in a serious accident over the weekend. According to police reports, Casey flipped his F-150 truck around 1:30am Sunday morning. Three of Casey’s five passengers (including Casey) were ejected from the truck after he swerved off the road, landed in a ditch, and then flipped over after over-correcting. He reportedly received a skull fracture and mild brain trauma, and was airlifted to an intensive care unit of a Mississippi hospital.
Police charged Casey with “careless operation of a vehicle.”
A family source said Aldridge is fully alert, resting and talking to friends and family. “The doctors are pretty positive he’s going to be okay,” the source says. “He should recover fully. Of course you never know, but they’re not expecting him to get any worse.”
Doctors plan to keep Aldridge in the intensive care unit for three days “to keep a close check on him,” the source adds. “They are planning no surgery unless something happens.”
A source said Aldridge was attending a bachelor party for his cousin, when he and some friends decided to go crabbing. He was driving his truck with several passengers when it went off the shoulder of the road and flipped over, adds the source.
Jamie Lynn, 18, and Casey’s family have kept vigil at the hospital since the accident. Casey’s passengers, meanwhile, are being treated for a broken collarbone and hip injuries.
