The tense relationship between Britney Spears and her mother Lynne apparently just got worse: Britney reportedly visited an attorney yesterday to file a restraining order against Lynne in an effort to keep her away from her two sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James. Yowza.

Britney and Lynne’s relationship soured when Brit was forced into rehab by her family and management (according to Brit herself) and when it appeared that Lynne was taking Kevin’s side in the custody battle involving her own daughter and her daughter’s estranged husband.

Then reports had the mother and daughter reconciling last month and we did catch Brit’s mom at her daughter’s Bel Air home, but Britney was mum on mom the following day when we asked if she was happy to see her mom again.

Whatevah, Britney does what she wants, when she wants. You best recognize, ma.

According to Melanie Brown’s rep, a DNA test proved this week that Eddie Murphy is the father of the former Spice Girl’s two-month old daughter, Angel Iris. Eddie underwent the DNA test on June 11th, and the results reportedly came in on Thursday afternoon.

“He’s the baby’s father, it’s official,” says a source close to Brown. “The baby is undoubtedly, 110 percent his.”

Of Brown, the source said, “There was no doubt in people’s minds anyways, least of all hers. It wasn’t a surprise to her. She knew all along.”

Eddie has yet to confirm the test results, but it doesn’t seem that he’s very eager to find out; Mel B claimed he initially refused to take a paternity test, and has not contacted her since the birth of Angel.

Britney Spears’ over-worked publicist, Leslie Sloane Zelnick, released a rather odd statement this week, claiming she put Britney “on hiatus.” While I’m not completely sure what this means, one thing is certain: Britney’s new disc will be pushed back to at least 2008.

“I put her on hiatus,” Zelnik says. “Brit’s album is pushed until ’08. If she has no album, there’s no reason to do anything. I’m representing her in theory right now. I said that since the album is pushed back until ’08, let’s go on hiatus until we have a campaign to do.”

A music-industry insider says the album is delayed because Britney’s struggling creatively. “I’m surprised the album wasn’t pushed back to ’09 — everything’s up in the air with the album right now,” the insider says. “Jive [Records, Brit's label] hated the songs Britney was coming up with, except for a few. The executives are not happy. And she didn’t want to listen to anyone. Everything was a problem for her. They wanted her to work with certain people, and she wanted the opposite.”

I actually find this news as a relief; I love hearing about train-wreck trashy Britney, but I don’t love hearing her God-awful music.
