I don’t know what the Emmy committee is smoking, but it must be pretty strong. The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences included Britney Spears on the ballot of possible Emmy nominees for 2008. Apparently the singer’s brief appearance on CBS’s “How I Met Your Mother” is enough to garner her a nod.

For her double-shot guest appearance as Abby on CBS hit How I Met Your Mother, Brit-Brit is one of 41 actresses on the official ballot released by the Academy of Television
Arts & Sciences to its voters. Keep in mind, this is the list that is whittled down to the final nominees for the September ceremony.

Britney has some tough competition in the category: Sarah Silverman, Mary-Kate Olsen, and Sarah Chalke are among the nominees for Best Guest Appearance by an Actress.
