There is a slight possibility that we might see Britney Spears perform again at the MTV Music Awards. Van Toffler, president of MTV Networks, told the Associated Press he would be willing to give Britney another chance, despite her disastrous appearance at the 2007 VMAs.

“Everyone deserves a second or third chance, right?”

When asked if he was just joking, Toffler said “sorta.”
 
“Who knows?” he said.

“I’m not sure how we top Britney opening the show,” said Toffler. “We are working on it every minute of every day.”

Britney did a pitiful job lipsynching and shaking her flabby body around on the VMA stage, but her appearance brought in 7.1 million viewers for the telecast. Although she’s certain to mess up again, it would still be a ratings bonanza for the network.

The 2008 MTV Video Music Awards will air live from Paramount Pictures Studios in Los Angeles on September 7.
