London police arrested Christian Bale shortly after the UK premiere of his new film, “The Dark Knight.” Christian’s mother and sister claimed the Wales-born actor assaulted them at the Dorchester Hotel in London the night before his movie premiere.

Christian spent four hours at a London police station before being released on bail. He is expected to appear in court next September.

It is still unclear exactly what transpired in the hotel room, because none of the people involved are talking. When asked for comment, Christian’s sister said “there was an incident,” but it was “a family situation.”

“The police are dealing with it,” Bale’s sister Sharon told reporters, according to London’s Daily Telegraph. “It is an extremely sensitive situation. There is nothing more I can say.”

Added his mother, Jenny: “Yes, I was there, and yes, there was a family situation, but the police are handling it, and I cannot say anymore at the moment.

“We didn’t call the police to the scene,” Jenny said. “I can’t say anymore, but we didn’t call the police.”

Christian issued a statement through his attorney denying an assault occurred.

His attorney said Bale turned himself in Tuesday to give “his account in full of the events in question.”

Despite his arrest, Bale’s attorney stressed that the Dark Knight star “left the station without any charge being made against him by the police.”

Christian’s mother and sister live in the UK, while he resides in LA with his wife Sibi and three year old daughter, Emmaline.
