British comedian Russell Brand held a press conference at the Paramount Pictures lot yesterday to promote Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards. Russell, who will host the show, was accompanied by Christina Aguilera at the VMA preview. Christia said she will perform her new single, “Keeps Getting Better,” during the telecast.

“You’re going to get a first look and a first listen at my new image and my new sound,” Aguilera told reporters. “The last album, the style and sound was about vintage glam - this one is all about the future.”

Aguilera said that this would be the first time her son Max would be able to see her on TV, to which, Brand joked, “The VMAs are going to be so great that Christina Aguilera is willing to risk her newborn baby’s sight!”

Russell dished a few details about the show, saying Katy Perry will perform “Like a Virgin,” and Britney Spears will make a “professional” appearance.

“She’s not serving canapés or doing a bizarre haircut on herself!

“She’s not performing, but she’s certainly doing [the show] in a professional capacity,” said Brand.

The show will air live at 9pm ET this Sunday.
