Last night belonged to Britney Spears, as she walked away from the MTV Video Music Awards with three wins, including “Best Female Video,” “Best Pop Video,” and “Video of the Year.”

A nervous Britney Spears opened the 25th edition of the VMAs, live from Paramount Studios in Los Angeles, in a vintage silver Versace mini-dress after being escorted from her nearby dressing room.

Spears took center stage, clutched the microphone tight, and announced, “I’m here tonight to celebrate a very important birthday.” Continued Spears: “This is the 25th Video Music Awards, and it starts right now.”

I waited for a little British accent to come out during her acceptance speeches, but it didn’t happen. Needless to say, I was wicked disappointed.

As a British person, it is interesting to see Russell Brand presenting the VMAs, especially given that he was sacked from MTV in the UK. The reason? On 12 September 2001 he turned up to work dressed as Osama Bin Laden. Trufax!

Well, she did screw up when she said “anniversity” instead of “anniversary”. I had to rewind that - it was too funny!
