Scarlett Johansson backed out of an appearance at a Free Arts NYC event hosted by homegirl Amy Sacco last night. Although Scarlett’s rep claimed she never confirmed she would show up at the event, sources claimed Scarlett may have canceled her appearance because of a nasty spill on Saturday.

Maybe she’s still smarting from the fall she took Sunday morning, when she stumbled while running to her car with a coat over her head trying to avoid paparazzi. Johansson partied all night after hosting “Saturday Night Live,” first at McCormick & Schmick’s and then at Azza. Though event publicists said Johansson “cancelled her appearance,” her rep told Page Six, “Scarlett never agreed to co-host the Free Arts NYC event and was never scheduled to attend.”

No one wants to see a messed up-looking Scarlett Johansson, so perhaps it’s a good thing she canceled.
