Jessica Simpson didn’t exactly receive a warm reception at her first Cannes appearance on Wednesday. Simpson showed up for a screening of the new Norah Jones and Jude Law flick, “My Blueberry Nights,” but wasn’t welcomed with warmness by the film’s star.
Jude Law, who stars in the film, seemed to find the “Dukes of Hazzard” star out of place at the venerable film fest. “What’s she doing here?” Law whispered to agent Patrick Whitesell, a spy tells us.
Clearly Jude hasn’t seen the preview of Jessica’s new movie, “Blonde Ambition,” otherwise he’d truly appreciate her for her craft.
More bad news for Jessica: it appears her relationship with floopy-haired crooner John Mayer is dunzo.

He probably saw her and immediately sprung one which was too much for him to handle while already being there with two dates who knew nothing of each other . . . a mother and daughter.
