Amid allegations that she blatantly ripped off 70’s band the Rubinoos, Avril Lavinge is under scrutiny for stealing another song.
Avril claimed there was no way she could have stolen the Rubinoos tune “I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend” to make her song “Girlfriend,” because she never heard their song before. She’ll have a much harder time denying she stole Peaches’ song “I’m the Kinda.” It sounds suspiciously similar to Avril’s 2007 suck-job song “I Don’t Have to Try.” In an interview with InStyle Magazine, Avril listed the 2003 song as one of her top seven “songs that inspire.”
I guess it inspires the theft of intellectual property.

Okay so her song sounds similar to other peoples. Whoop dee dee. Lots of songs have similar chord progressions, lyrics, etc.
Lots of lyrics have the same line but just on their own spin.
How to Save a Life and Boston sound similar but they AREN’T the same.

Um, that’s only the intro to the song of “I Don’t Have to Try”… it lasts maybe a total of 30 seconds and then it completely changes and sounds like another rockish Avril song. Get over it and get a life, people.

Ok my thing is, I haven’t heard the whole song, but it doesn’t make sense for people to go around calling people ignorant or fools. One you don’t know them and you don’t know all the facts. Honestly people, how old are we?
I’m in a band and I write my own stuff and I play my own thing and sometimes people will go up and be all, “Hey, I think you stole this song.” They’ll be all, “You stole this song from ____” and it just really annoys me because I honestly don’t go stealing songs. The reason people think I steal songs is because of the billion songs out here, don’t you think a lot of it deals with repetition? I mean, there are a bazillion songs with the words, “I love you,” but does that make it stealing? Just saying.
As for whether or not I think Avril did steal, we don’t know. Don’t go around criticizing other people before you know for sure.

Wow People! If she did then she needs to admit it and say she is sorry that she made a mistake and it was wrong pay the price and try to salvage her sinking career. It is not about if you love her or not, if she stole then she needs to pay. i have all 3 of her cd’s on my Ipod, and I admit some of her stuff is trashy other parts of it she shows she has a great voice. Bottom line she needs to admit to it (if she is guilty) , and everyone needs to move on to bigger and better things. Ugh, why is almost everyone here posting such childish nonsense? Are there even any adults here? Truth be told, I never cared for Avril in the first place but I’m not going to bash her either. I never thought she was that creative to begin with so it doesn’t surprise me if she did steal songs. If this is all true, then I just think it’s sad because such basic lyrics and she couldn’t be creative enough to come up with her own. It’s a shame because so many true and original artists try so hard to make it in the music industry and spend so much money trying and you get such unoriginal artists like Avril and Paris Hilton who are now known as jokes in the industry. Paris’ father practically bought her a record deal and Avril steals songs when she was originally a writer to begin with. Now I’m not making any assumptions because I don’t know if Avril is a thief or not, but the Paris issue really is true… THAT I do know. I do understand that many songs can sound similar to each other, but there is also a boundary as well. Regardless, I think music should be based on creativity and talent, not money. Oh… and some of you really need to go back to elementary school and learn how to spell. “Affence” is spelled “offense.”
