We aren’t the only ones annoyed with Britney Spears’ ever-expanding menagerie; after the singer bought a $3,000 Yorkie at a Bel Air pet store last week (which made the third pet she’s purchased over the past few months), the Humane Society fired off an angry letter, claiming they were concerned over Britney’s lack of regard for her pets.

“The Humane Society of the United States is extremely concerned not only that the pop star purchased a dog from a pet store, but also that she apparently took very little time to make such a major decision,” read a release by The Humane Society sent to The ShowBuzz.

“Ms. Spears is setting a damaging example to the public. Most dogs sold in pet stores come from puppy mills, factory-like facilities, churning out purebred and “designer” puppies in large numbers,” said Stephanie Shain, the HSUS director of outreach for companion animals.

I realize they’re despicable, but the term “puppy mill” sounds really cute. I want a job there.
