Lindsay Lohan turned herself over to police yesterday to be formally charged with DUI in connection with her Memorial Day weekend car crash. Lindsay was suspected to be under the influence of alcohol and cocaine on that evening.
Accompanied by her attorney, the 21-year-old actress surrendered at the Beverly Hills Police Department Thursday afternoon to be fingerprinted and photographed, Officer Brian Ballieweg said.
Lohan’s blood-alcohol level at the time of the crash was above California’s 0.08 percent legal limit, Ballieweg said. He wouldn’t disclose how high it was. She is also faces a misdemeanor charge of hit and run, he said.
Lohan was released on her recognizance. A court date was scheduled for August 24.
In other Lohan news, the rumors surrounding the starlet’s weekend in Las Vegas apparently cost her a film role. According to Page Six, backers for her movie “Poor Things” pulled out this week.
Lohan was supposed to start filming “Poor Things” with Shirley MacLaine when she was out of rehab. But last week, product vendors including GE and Dell computers, who had been promised placement in the movie in exchange for cash, got a disturbing e-mail from set designer Fontaine Beauchamp Hebb.
Hebb’s e-mail, with the subject line: ” ‘Poor Things’ has been cancelled,” said, “Sorry to be the harbinger of bad news, but I just received a call from Jacky Gilardi, the producer, pulling the plug on the ill-fated film.
“Apparently, Ms. Lohan’s antics in Las Vegas over the weekend have scared the bond companies and all of the funding has been pulled . . . I look forward to working together in the future and trust our next project will not be as fraught with difficulty.”
The insurers were said to worry that Lohan, despite wearing an alcohol-monitoring device around her ankle and claiming to take daily drug tests, had gone out clubbing with pals. (Ironically, the plot of “Poor Things” involves two women who befriend and then murder homeless men to collect their life insurance.)
But a Lohan friend fumes: “She had nothing to do with that movie shutting down. It was a mess to begin with. They randomly fired Channing Tatum for Giovanni Ribisi, and then financing fell through because producers spent money like water. It was only supposed to cost $4 million… Lindsay was being paid nothing for that role.
“Lindsay is proving to everyone that she is, and will remain, sober by voluntarily wearing the ankle bracelet and taking drug tests. This is not about her work. It’s about her being able to live her life and go out with her friends without people writing nasty items about her.”
Uh oh! Looks like someone is suffering from Robert Downing Jr. syndrome–all that bad behavior straight scared off producers.

You know, I understand she’s young and dumb etc. but if you want to be taken seriously, you have to be serious about your job. She just got out of rehab and is out partying. I don’t doubt for a minute that there was a lot more than redbull and water during her Vegas trip.
Grow up and act like an adult, or risk ruining your career. Especially when your career is hanging by a very thin thread due to your stupid behavior!

Hear, here… these girls will never be taken seriously until they get out of the bar scene. Whatever happened to staying home occasionally?

There is a bright light at the end of this story, at least she doesn’t have to star in a film with Shirley MacLaine. Obviously she’s never seen Guarding Tess.
