Despite reports claiming she entered the Priory rehab clinic in London, friends of Amy Winehouse claim the singer is holed up at a hotel recovering from a drug overdose earlier this week.

Amy reportedly hasn’t been able to eat, and has been vomiting constantly after her three day coke-heroin-ecstasy-ketamine-and-alcohol binge. Doctors and a psychiatrist allegedly visited her hotel room yesterday.

Since her collapse the troubled star has told mum Janis she is convinced she is destined for an early grave.

Last night a family friend said: “Amy has told her mum she is often suicidal and she knows she will die young.

“Janis and the rest of the family persuaded Amy to go to the hotel to recover after her overdose. They hope that by getting her out of the scene around Camden she will be able to see what she is doing to herself.

“But Amy is determined that she will NOT go to rehab.

“She has no idea how close she came to dying. She has barely eaten anything and keeps being sick. She is in an incredibly fragile state, both physically and mentally.”

Amy’s dad Mitch is demanding minders protect Amy 24 hours a day so she can’t get access to drugs. He also wants her record label to scrap tour commitments for the rest of the year.

Amy’s friend added: “There is a part to Amy that likes to push things to the edge. Janis is worried she has pushed it too far.”

Late yesterday Amy emerged from a suite to have an £85 massage in the hotel spa. She also booked a facial for her and three pals for today. But an onlooker said: “She looked a mess.”

Mitch is said to be furious about reports in a rival paper that Amy had checked into The Priory rehab clinic on Thursday. The family friend added: “That’s total rubbish. It’s what her family desperately want her to do but she won’t listen. The family went along with the record company when they first claimed she was suffering from exhaustion. But Amy is a lot more than exhausted… she needs help and she needs it fast. Mitch believes the only person she will listen to is Blake: he said if Blake hadn’t been awake, Amy would have died.”

Amy’s family have tried to keep drug-addled Blake away from Amy. But last night they were spotted drinking in the hotel grounds. Blake has fled the couple’s home in Camden, North London, amid claims he is to blame for her sorry downfall. One friend of Amy’s said Blake is a “controlling puppet-master, forever yanking Amy’s strings.”

I normally love a train wreck, but Black to Black is such an amazing disc, I would be heartbroken if we didn’t get a follow-up to it.
