Fergie, always one to be quick with the sage advice, spoke out in defense of Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan, demanding their naysayers cut them slack.
“They’re young,” Fergie (real name: Stacy Ferguson) said at a Conde Nast Fashion Rocks event in New York. “I was young when I went through my stuff. Leave them alone. If they want to get better, they’re going to get better on their own.”
“If somebody is going to change, they have to want to do it themselves,” she says. “I think it is really unfair to them when they are trying to get help. We’re all watching as a nation and commenting day by day on their rehabilitation. It’s not fair. You’re supposed to have a sanctuary, a place where you can go and not be pressured every day.”
Fergie is a self-admitted crystal meth addict, so I guess she knows what she’s talking about. Unfortunately, she’s not as convincing as this dude, though:

I’m so tired of hearing the excuse “They’re young” or “Britney is a YOUNG mother” I was young too (once upon a time) and a younger mother. I was barely over 22 when I had my oldest daughter. I have NEVER done the crap that she’s done. So many other women have come and gone before Britney and Lindsay that have never pulled the crap that they’ve pulled. Youth has nothing to do with utter stupidity.
