Following her loss in court on Wednesday, a smiling Britney Spears checked into the upscale Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills. She was reportedly accompanied by her assistant, Alli Sims, and her new bizarre BFF, Sam Lufti.

Sources tell Usmagazine.com that the pop star arrived around 6 p.m., and, according to a hotel employee, Britney “looked like she was in a really good mood” — despite the day’s dramatic events. A source tells Us that Spears got herself a room on the 11th floor of the luxury hotel.

Later, Spears and a bodyguard walked out of the hotel and down the sidewalk alongside nearby Beverly Blvd. to a Starbucks. After fetching a drink, they hopped inside a trailing paparazzi photographer’s vehicle for a ride back to the hotel.

Spears then enjoyed a dinner at the hotel’s posh restaurant, Cut, with six other people.

Ooh, she’s so strong! Smiling and drinking calorie-laden frozen drinks despite the fact she just lost custody of her two children!

Anyhoo, in the wake of her latest mess, Britney’s record label, Jive, released the following statement:

“It’s not Jive’s place to fashion a public-relations campaign with respect to Britney’s personal issues, but Jive does care about her and does support her. We’re not pointing fingers, because the media and the paparazzi wouldn’t exist if there weren’t an appetite for it. But there’s no question that when you have someone at this level of celebrity, they become like cartoons or soap-opera characters, and we forget that they’re human beings. People say that’s the trade you make, that you have to give up your privacy or the ability to lead a normal life, but sometimes you make that bargain before you realize what it entails and it’s too late. Britney’s a grown woman, and she makes her own choices, and we respect that. But she’s been at a disadvantage [without a consistent team], and obviously that makes it harder to cope.”

I hope that means they plan on dropping her soon.
