Since we’ve wasted so much time lately discussing Britney Spears’ lax attitude towards parenting, it’s nice to see a story about parents who are actually thrilled to raise a child. Although I never guessed Nicole Richie and Joel Madden would be so cute as new parents, they really are. Joel posted an enthusiastic blog entry about his daughter, Harlow Winter Kate Madden.

“I am finally home with my beautiful girlfriend and our brand new little daughter,” wrote the proud papa Monday on his DCMA Collective Web site under the heading “It’s a Girl!!!!”

“She is 19 inches long and growing everyday already!” Madden, 28, writes. “We are so blessed to have this beautiful little baby in our lives.”

He notes the baby “looks so much like her mom its crazy!”

“She eats like a little maniac and she’s really sweet,” Madden writes. “She barely ever cries, even when daddy is changing her diaper, and believe me I suck when it comes to diapers, but I’m learning! I can’t wait to show off some pictures.”

I’m bizarrely obsessed with seeing a photo of this kid.
