A Los Angeles commissioner ruled today that Britney Spears’ father, Jamie Spears, could remain as the conservator of her estate, despite the singer’s protests.
Although Britney’s team of attorneys argued that Jamie should be removed as conservator, the commissioner decided Jamie’s conservatorship will be extended until at least Valentine’s Day, and reiterated that Britney’s homeboy Sam Lutfi could have no contact at all with the singer.
A court-appointed attorney for Britney Spears told the commissioner that Britney was unable to handle her own affairs.
In court today, a court-appointed lawyer told the Commissioner he visited Britney yesterday just after 5:00 PM PT in the hospital. He concluded that Brit is not currently competent enough to understand the nature of the current legal proceedings, nor does she appreciate the impact that it has on her life.
The lawyer also said Britney lacks capacity to retain a lawyer.
The conservatorship grants Jamie Spears the ability to oversee Britney’s medical care and control over her estate. During testimony, a lawyer representing Britney’s hired firm Trope & Trope said Britney is worth $40 million, and is in the midst of a $17 million IRS audit.

Good. Finally someone who actually has her best interests at heart is in charge of her. And yes, I do think her father has her best interests at heart.
At least more than that douche Sam Lufti has.

“Not currently competent enough to understand the nature of the current legal proceedings” is the worst review she’s received since Roger Ebert saw Crossroads. Harsh, judge.
