After Natalie Cole presented the Grammy for Record of the Year to Amy Winehouse, she bad-mouthed Wino to the media. Speaking at a Grammy after-party, Natalie said she was disappointed the record industry chooses to praise Amy for her work, despite her drug and alcohol problems.

“I’m going on record as an artist who is able to critique [Amy Winehouse],” Natalie Cole (a recovering drug addict herself) told reporters at a post-Grammys bash Sunday. “I think she has a great talent, but I don’t agree with the Grammys giving her those nods. I think it sends the wrong message, that even in the midst of her stupor of drugs she can get nominated for all these awards.

“It’s a slap in the face to musicians and artists who work very hard that they turn around and give it to someone who really obviously doesn’t have a grasp of what she has. I’ve been in this business over 25 years and I sacrificed five years of my own life on drugs and almost lost my life because of it.

“So I take great offence to almost see someone getting glory out of being in the position that they’re in, she needs to get her life together and embrace her craft, she will lose it if she doesn’t get it together.”

Wino was in a drug stupor, last week, Natalie. Get your facts straight; she’s totes clean and sober, hater.

Awards don’t have a damn thing to do with artistic integrity or how dignified the performers carry themselves. It’s about sales. Nat needs to check her bile, as she’s clearly bitter she did not get such acclaim when she was down and out.

Damn Nat, sounds like sour grapes to me. The difference between you and Amy is that while you were on drugs you were trying to pass of CRAP as music and Amy is actually talented in spite of her raging drug use.
Besides, isn’t she in rehab Ms. Hater?

I agree absolutely that the awards (Grammy’s) have nothing to do with talent but everything to do with sales. However I also wish Amy well in her current troubles. She needs to keep trying to remain clean and recover her career. These awards that were given to her may help her in the long run by acknowledging she has talent and is in risk of losing everythin she’s worked for. It would be trerrible for her to lose her music to drugs. Sometimes people on the road to recovery need to be reminded of what they still have, and that’s worth all the effort to save. Best wishes Amy!

Oh please! Did Natalie forget that the only reason she got a head start in this business was because her father was Nat “King” Cole? She has a passable talent but she never would have gotten as far as she did had she been a nobody. Yeah, it’s unfair that some people don’t have to work as hard as others and can get by or sometimes wildly succeed without even trying…that’s called “talent” and Amy has it.

Cole is a D-bag. And might I add Amy looks pretty good in that picture. At least her face doesn’t look like it’s melting here. I hope she can clean up before it’s too late. Maybe winning the awards will show her she does have a lot of talent, and inspire her to clean up a little so she can keep it up.

..This is how you make the press. You attempt to discredit the greatest
singer-songwriter-muse of the 21st Century. I must also say that Amy
Winehouse is the most unpretentious-gorgeous-quick witted-personality
in the business. Cole did not waste time, her schtick began immediately
after the Grammys, at a party….how foolish.
