The doctor treating Patrick Swayze issued a statement confirming that the actor has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
“Patrick has a very limited amount of disease and he appears to be responding well to treatment thus far,” Dr. George Fisher says in a statement. “All of the reports stating the time frame of his prognosis and his physical side effects are absolutely untrue. We are considerably more optimistic.”
The actor’s rep adds: “Patrick is continuing his normal schedule during this time, which includes working on upcoming projects. The outpouring of support and concern he has already received from the public is deeply appreciated by Patrick and his family.”
The National Enquirer ran a piece earlier today that alleged Patrick has only five weeks to live.

WHAT?? Man, I’m glad he’s gonna be OK. Never realized how much I liked him until I read this.

AmyD-
no offense, but they are just putting on a brave face. pancreatic cancer has the highest fatality rate of all the cancers. nobody survives it. its more so an issue of how long someone with it can live. most people only survive a few months. best case scenario is a few years. but who wants to put out a statement saying - yes, he is dying, we’re just not sure exactly when. so lets sit back and wait.

Meh, as a former oncology nurse, I do understand that he only has a 10% chance to survive a year, and THAT’S if they caught it in time to respond to treatment. But if it’s true that he is responding well, and if he can get a transplant, then he just may be OK. BTW, it’s the fourth deadliest cancer, not the highest. Don’t count him out yet.
