“American Idol” season one loser Nikki McKibbin reportedly lost her shit and was placed in a psych ward for mental observation. Friends blabbed to Star Magazine that Nikki began a downward spiral following the death of her mother.
Things went from bad to worse when her mother died suddenly in August and Nikki was thrust into a tailspin which culminated in a shocking breakdown at her Fort Worth, Tex. home on Feb. 21.
According to a police report obtained by Star, Nikki called a friend and told her that she was feeling depressed and wanted to kill herself. The report states that Nikki said, “I want to live with my mom in heaven” and took migraine medication to “dull the pain.”
Tipped off by Nikki’s friend, police arrived to find the former Idol hopeful half-dressed with a number of white pills in her hand. After a violent confrontation — during which she reportedly tried to kick out the windows of the cop car — she was taken to the John Peter Smith Hospital and placed under psychiatric observation for the required 72 hours before being released.
The failure of Nikki’s disc Unleashed allegedly added to the singer’s fragile state of mind. But on the bright side, at least she’s doing better than Ruben Studdard.

She has tried DESPERATELY to be famous for sure. I’ve seen her on so many shows trying to cash in and it’s just not working for her. But I did like her on Battle of the Network Reality Stars. haha.

You all have it all wrong….. Leave Nikki alone. I was in the Psyc. Ward that same night. She broke her foot, police made her go to the Hospital. After 72 hours she was out. Leave Nikki alone.
